The northwest is uncharted territory for me (David). I’m still trying to figure out where to begin with venues as well as with people. Considering though that I’m still learning I’ve been fortunate with the few gigs I have had. This past Thursday in San Francisco was no exception.
My friend Rachel booked me at Madrone Art Lounge and we had a fantastic evening. This is a great bar that holds a great group of people. The crowd as well as the owner Spike really took care of me. It was a special night indeed.
The next day we just straight chilled. Slept in, met a couple new friends for lunch (you must check out The Grove. Get the mac and cheese), got coffee, then Paige had three shoots at Crissy field. Crissy field is a park that hangs in the shadows of the Golden Gate. There is a small beach and tons of grass on which Paige and I took a little nap. It was pretty much perfect. Unfortunately one family canceled but the second showed and we had a great time with Tran family. One picture of Oliver is below and there will be more to come. The third shoot which ended up being the second was with a group of roommates. Cecelia and Caitlin (who you might recognize from the LA all girl photo madness) were in this group as well so we pretty much became best friends.
After work was done we ate. We ate well. The girls took us to this wonderful Italian bistro and we stuffed our faces with vino and an assortment of pastas. On the road it’s important to be frugal because you never know what might pop up. In this case however we scratched that rule. It was worth it. Dinner was followed by a little bar hoping with me, Paige, Cecelia, and Caitlin. Girls nights are the best. We gossiped, talked trash, and stumbled upon Texas beer. It was perfect.
