So in our last actual update, David filled you in on Sep 9-10. Which we all know was forever ago. I’m going to start filling you in on the rest but don’t worry.. it will come in waves. I don’t want to overwhelm you or anything..
Friday Sep 11:
We were still in San Diego at this point, hanging out with Andrea. We got to see the new Invisible Children office which was cool/weird for me since I used to work for them when they were located in Spring Valley. In any case, they seem to be moving up.
We grabbed lunch with Andrea at this awesome deli and then headed off to do grab some Internet. That night we hit up some Mexican place (we went local twice in one day.. where’s our cookie?) and had some fabulous margaritas, food and conversation. Our friend Joe Bello also joined us.
We then headed to what ended up being a hilarious and enjoyable evening. I won’t go into details because I know you’ll get jealous. If you were there.. we enjoyed your company and hope to see you again on Sep 26th.
Saturday Sep 12:
Drove to LA. Reunited with my friends from college (Whitney and her twin sister Lauren, Brittany, Cecelia, and Caitlin).
Whitney and Lauren’s 24th birthday party was held that evening at the Blue Dahlia Wine Bar which is quite the gem of LA.. you check it out if you haven’t. David played covers and some of his own music while I provided some photo booth action.
Hilarious fact of the evening: We got called some form of “the artistic power couple” about fifty times. I guess that makes us feel cool…?
Thanks to everyone for the good times that evening! And happy birthday one last time to Whitney and Lauren. :)
Sunday Sep 13:
We got up and went to Ecclesia Hollywood which is where Whitney attends church. I have been before when I was on tour with IC and really enjoyed it (which was partially due to the fact the pastor reminded me a little of Charlie from It’s Always Sunny.. just being honest).
We happened to go on a day they were inducting a new lead pastor and so we got to hear him speak. It was actually really exciting to hear about the things that are going on in Hollywood’s Christian community. We’re super stoked to see the things that happen there and it made us really want to find that same thing when we go back to Austin.
After church, we hit up the local farmer’s market which is always a lovely thing to do. Later, I did two mini portrait sessions in the park near Whitney’s house.. one with her roommates and then one with the girls from Texas. Photos coming soon!
We ended our time in LA which some major relaxing.. dinner at Whole Foods, good conversation, Shiner, and watching the highlights from the VMAs (i.e. Kayne being a douuuucccchhhheee….. and WTF Lady Gaga? Still having nightmares, thanks).
